Dr. Gary A. Wagner holds the Acadiana Business Economist / BORSF Eminent Scholar Endowed Chair in Economics at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette's B.I. Moody III College of Business Administration, a position he has held since joining the university in 2018 as its inaugural occupant. In this role he monitors the regional economic environment, conducts research and forecasting, and shares results with the business community. Prior to joining UL Lafayette, Dr. Wagner served as Vice President and Senior Regional Officer at the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, and he has also worked with the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. He is a quarterly participant in the Philadelphia Fed's Survey of Professional Forecasters and served on the Governor's Council of Economic Advisors in Arkansas from 2008 to 2011. His research spans regional economics, state and local public finance, and economic development. He earned his Ph.D. and master's degree in economics from West Virginia University and his bachelor's degree from Youngstown State University.
