Newell Normand
WWL's the Newell Normand Show
Host

Newell Normand hosts the midday talk show on WWL Radio (105.3 FM / 870 AM) following a forty-year career in law enforcement, thirty-seven of those years with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office. He was elected Sheriff of Jefferson Parish in 2007, succeeding the late Harry Lee, and was returned to office by voters three times before retiring from the position in 2017 to take the WWL microphone. Normand holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of New Orleans and a law degree from Tulane University, and he is a graduate of the FBI National Academy. On air he addresses issues affecting the metro region, including development trends, housing supply, demographic shifts, and public policy, and he draws on decades of institutional knowledge of Louisiana government and politics.
